Announcing a special issue of JCOM on “Science Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”

JCOM is proud to announce a partnership with the Department of Communication and Media Research at the University of Zurich to produce a special issue on the topic of “Science Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)”.

This special issue will be based on selected papers from the 2024 Annual Conference of the Science Communication Division of the German Communication Association taking place at the University of Zurich on 6 – 7 June 2024. This conference will focus on science communication research related to all facets of AI, with one or two open panels for research papers on science communication that are not AI-related.

The conference organisers (Sabrina H. Kessler, Daniela Mahl, Mike S. Schäfer & Sophia C. Volk) are calling for papers related to communication about and with AI, and the impact of AI technologies on science communication ecosystems. They are also looking for theoretical and methodological approaches to AI and science communication. You may submit proposals to present on completed research or work-in-progress.

In a recent JCOM commentary, Prof Mike Schäfer reflected on the implications of AI for science communication practice, teaching and research.
