Loredana Casalis

Head of the NanoInnovation Laboratory of Elettra Syncrothron, Trieste (Italy)

Course: Communication 2015

Loredana Casalis is a physicist with a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics. Her expertise is in nanoscience techniques for  biophysics and biotechnology. She exploits scanning probe microscopy and synchrotron radiation based structural and spectroscopic techniques to investigate the biophysics of protein interactions on nanostructured surfaces and to develop nanoscale devices for quantitative diagnostics and disease monitoring. Her group has also optimized procedures for the nanografting of unstructured proteins relevant to neurodegenerative diseases, and to study fibrillation in-situ, on bare surfaces and in model membrane layers.Head NanoInnovation Laboratory, Elettra-Sincrotrone, Trieste
