Federica Benvenuti

Group Leader, Cellular Immunology, ICGEB, Trieste (Italy)

Course: Communication 2015

Federica Benvenuti graduated in Life Sciences and obtained a PhD in Molecular Genetics at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Trieste, Italy, with a thesis on DNA vaccination against lymphomas. She then moved to the Institute Curie in Paris for a post-doctoral training on fundamental aspects of the immune response to pathogens. She came back to Italy in 2004 first as a senior post-doc and later as a group leader of the Cellular Immunology laboratory at ICGEB. Her research group studies the defects in the immune response to pathogens and transformed cells that occur in pathological situations such as primary immune deficiencies and cancer with the long-term objective to reprogram effective immune responses against these diseases.
